Both candidates yesterday evening tried to portray themselves as good colleagues; respectful to one another and yet able to be a critic of each other’s policies! There were interruptions but isn’t that normal in politics?!
The public however demanded honesty and integrity and said they wanted politicians whom they could trust!
One candidate avoided tackling high mortgage interest rates and other details about consequences of her policy!
Voters demanded openness about policies; competency and integrity!
Honesty in politics includes giving people all the relevant information they need in order to make sound judgments for themselves; half truth or staying silent on key facts to get the informant’s desired outcome is not honesty but manipulation or fear!
If a politician believes their policies will cause unpopular consequences, they should inform the public about these if they want the public to vote for them on such issues!
That is how trust is rebuilt!
